Back in June, on my way down to Chicago, I just passed an electronic billboard on the highway. In the time it took me to pass, it flashed through three different signs. The first was an advert for an online mask store. The second was a hospital sponsored message that read “Black Lives Matter,” and the third was a sign that said “Thank You to Our Healthcare Workers.”
Today, on my way into Milwaukee, I passed about 7 different Covid-19 related billboards, in the span of 3 minutes. The one that stuck out to me showed a couple in masks standing in from of the home. The headline read “I stay home for-” and underneath was a sticky note with “you” handwritten in sharpie.

An odd year indeed for billboards.
